A Locally Owned Business
Margie Hofberg was born and raised in the Metro DC area. She is committed to sharing her organizational and leadership skills with her community and has served on the Board of several local non-profit organizations.
Supporting Local Causes
RMC is a proud sponsor of the DC Gay Flag Football League (DCGFFL). As part of their sponsorship, RMC partnered with Duane Young of Redwood Ventures for an informational presentation. Margie put her teaching skills to use and talked to this great group of men (and women) about obtaining and maintaining good credit and how to prepare for buying a home.
Known as “Mama Hof” to the team, most summer weekends you can find Margie on the sidelines of the DCGFFL games cheering the team on.
In 2005, Margie trained in Collaborative Practice, a recent divorce process to resolve disputes respectfully. Clients work with trained professionals—attorneys, therapists, child specialists, and financial planners—to negotiate a mutually acceptable settlement that encourages open communication and information sharing without going to court. Margie is on the Board of Collaborative Project of Maryland, a non-profit providing the collaborative process to families of modest means. She also serves on committees for a variety of other Collaborative Divorce professional groups.
In 2012, Margie and a group of collaborative professionals founded the Collaborative Practice Center of Montgomery County (CPCMC) in Rockville, MD. The CPCMC is a supportive professional environment with a variety of services that include mediation, legal representation, negotiation and litigation, mental health resources, collaborative coaching, financial planning, tax advice, real estate sales and settlements, and mortgages.
Divorce and the Marital Home
Since 2010, Margie Hofberg has joined with Duane Young of Redwood Ventures and of Precision Settlement and Escrow on a presentation for attorneys entitled Divorce and the Marital Home. The talk includes important information regarding qualifying income, title transfer, equity buyouts, and more. The attorneys use this material to draft durable settlement agreements. Over the years they have given this presentation to over 300 local attorneys.
Seeing a need for comprehensive, accessible information for individuals going through a divorce, Margie Hofberg joined with Carol Randolph of New Beginnings to create a presentation called Divorce 101. This series of 6 classes is given by highly qualified professionals on subjects such as the basics of divorce law, different approaches to divorce, financial considerations, parenting plans, finding support during the process, and more. Since its beginning in the spring of 2013, this popular series has reached more than 100 people going through a separation or divorce.
